This course has been designed as an overview of Commercial and Social Franchising and was developed to provide a deep dive into the design, development and management of franchise system. It includes essential points of business and legal knowledge required by franchisors and franchisees.
Franchising is a form of licensing used globally by over 150 distinct industries as a method to distribute product and services. According to the IFA, there are over 770,000 franchise establishments in the United States employing over 8,100,000 individuals, contributing more than $470 billion to the US Gross Domestic Product and $780 billion in Economic Output. Fifty-four percent (54%) of franchises in the United States are operated by individuals and entities that own more than one franchise and many multi-unit franchisees operate in multiple franchise systems. The average multi-unit operator owns five (5) franchised locations.

This course includes access to the e-book Making the Franchise Decision by Michael Seid.
